Dr. Jason Mathis

I was diagnosed with the chronic disease, asthma, at the age of 2 ½.   To relieve the symptoms of this problem, I spent my early childhood using inhalers and taking various medications.  When the drugs failed to work, the only recourse was/were frantic trips to the emergency room where I received numerous shots of adrenalin to open my airways.   Fortunately, by the age of 12 my body was strong enough to fight this condition on its own – unfortunately another problem surfaced - allergies.  My parents were encouraged by our family doctor to take me to an allergist.  For the next 12 years I received allergy shots which did not cure the allergies, only masked them.  At the age of 24 I had a life changing experience.  My neck was badly injured in a car accident and the medical doctor who was treating me suggested I see a chiropractor.  I took his advice and not only did the chiropractor heal my neck, more importantly, my allergy symptoms disappeared. 

I was so impressed by my chiropractor and his ability to restore me back to health, I decided I wanted to do whatever it took to enter this incredible field of medicine.   I wanted to help people the same way I had been helped.   I had already earned a Bachelor in/of Science degree from Michigan State University in Construction Management, an MBA from Wayne State University , and was working for one of the largest home builders in the Midwest .  After much soul-searching and recognizing the tremendous commitment this field requires, I decided to attend Life University in Atlanta Georgia , attending their 4 year chiropractic program, graduating in April 2008.  I know I took the long path in getting where I wanted to go, but I am here and I pledge to make a difference.
